The P5/6 class organised a fantastic donut sale in school today, to raise funds for 'Mission Aviation Fellowship' - a charity that flies missionaries and aid supplies into remote parts of the world. This has fitted really well into their theme of 'Up, up and away' - and they are hoping to meet an MAF pilot later in the term. The donuts were fantastic and the kids all had a great break time. The class has raised over £150 so thank you so much for all your support! The video below explains more about the work of MAF.Congratulations to Mrs Gillespie's class on winning the Accelerated Reader 'Top Class' trophy for September. They scored a very high average score in their quizzes during the month and just about pipped the other two classes to get the top spot! Well done everyone; enjoy your non-uniform day as a reward!
We were delighted to welcome Anna and Phoebe to our school today! They have travelled all the way from Kenya and have first hand experience of the work of the VISPA charity which many of our families will be familiar with. Anna and Phoebe spoke to the children in assembly and taught us a new song, then came to visit the children in their classrooms. It was so nice to meet them and share our school day with them. We are delighted to welcome 21 new Primary 1 children to The Diamond PS. We are really looking forward to seeing them achieve in so many ways!
Congratulations to our school football team who played brilliantly at the Northern Ireland finals tournament in Antrim. The team finished second in their group stage with two wins and a draw (and one defeat) and seven points. They went on to win the semi-final 5-2 but then were beaten in the final by Blessed, a fantastic team. The boys did us proud and performed way beyond our expectations!
Brian Gault and his wife May came to SU to tell their story. Brian was born without arms due to the drug Thalidomide, but he inspired the children with his story of never saying "can't " - Brian uses his feet and toes to do everything! He shared his faith with the children and signed a card for everyone, with his toes!
